A selection of star names launch their quest for European Matchplay glory on Saturday as the Second Round gets underway in Hamburg.

The season's sixth European Tour event gathers pace as the top 16 seeds each take on one of Friday's successful qualifiers for the right to advance to the last 16.

James Wade kicks off the defence of his title with a clash against Australian ace Kyle Anderson - who came through a tense last-leg decider with Christian Kist on Friday.

Michael van Gerwen, World Cup winner with the Netherlands in Frankfurt last Sunday, returns to Germany to vie for a second European Tour crown of the year.

The world number one opens up with a tie against Scotland's John Henderson - who battled back from 4-1 down to defeat Mike Holz 6-4 with a match-winning checkout of 160 on Friday.

Fourth seed Simon Whitlock aims to end any hopes of an Andy Hamilton resurgence as the pair collide in a repeat of a Premier League Semi-Final back in 2012.

Dave Chisnall, runner-up here 12 months ago, looks to kick-start a similarly-strong run by overcoming former BDO number one James Wilson.

Third seed Mensur Suljovic, runner-up in a previous Euro Tour event this season, aims to silence lively Dutchman Dirk van Duijvenbode - who knocked out Darren Webster in Round One.

Peter Wright, three times a European Tour event winner in 2017 so far, bids to avert a potential banana skin at the hands of Greek number one John Michael.

Jelle Klaasen returns to competitive action for the first time since undergoing a wrist operation as he faces a fellow former Lakeside Champion in Stephen Bunting.

A mouth-watering all-Dutch show-down sees top 16 star Benito van de Pas take on a resurgent Vincent van der Voort - who came through a thriller with Adrian Lewis in Round One.

Number eight seed Kim Huybrechts will be wary of the threat posed by Peter Hudson - who dumped out Brendan Dolan 6-1 in the opening match of the tournament.

Gibraltar Trophy winner Michael Smith begins his quest for back-to-back Euro Tour titles with a clash against Belgian youngster Mike de Decker.

Spain's Cristo Reyes faces a tricky test against former World Youth finalist Nathan Aspinall, while ProTour event winner Daryl Gurney hosts Dutch qualifier Jimmy Hendriks.

Alan Norris, winner on the European Tour in 2016, faces Finland's Marko Kantele, as multiple major finalist Mervyn King meets emerging talent Richard North.

Ian White, the number 11 seed, looks to fend off a potentially tough test from Yorkshireman Peter Jacques - a first-time ProTour event finalist back in February.

Twelfth seed Joe Cullen aims to continue his fine run of form by dispatching multiple major semi-finalist Justin Pipe in another intriguing encounter.

The action gets underway from midday BST, with all matches contested over the best of 11 legs at InselParkhalle in Hamburg, Germany.
