The tenth PDC European Tour event of the year gets underway in Mannheim on Friday as the UK, European and Host Nation qualifiers vie to join the big guns in Round Two.

The £135,000 live-streamed tournament carries added significance given that it is the final ranking event before the cut off is made for next month's World Grand Prix in Dublin.

Following this weekend's event, the top 16 players from the Main Order of Merit will be joined by the next 16 highest ranked players from the ProTour Order of Merit in the double-in, double-out major.

A number of players are facing a make or break weekend in terms of their qualification hopes, including Ronny Huybrechts and Zoran Lerchbacher - who have been drawn together in the afternoon session.

Huybrechts is just £1,000 adrift of Richard North - who occupies the 16th and final ProTour qualification spot heading in to the German Grand Prix - and must better the Englishman's run here in order to snatch a spot in the prestigious major.

Austria's Lerchbacher, meanwhile, must reach the final and rely on an early exit for North if he is to have any chance of gatecrashing the World Grand Prix.

North has been handed a meeting with Mick Todd for the right to take on number one seed Michael van Gerwen in the Last 32.

Stand-out First Round ties include the evening session show-down between Auckland Masters champion Kyle Anderson and passionate Dutchman Dirk van Duijvenbode.

Former UK Open finalist Vincent van der Voort takes on Andrew Gilding - a player desperate to return to form at a crucial stage of the campaign.

Two of last weekend's Dutch Masters quarter-finalists go head-to-head as Poland's Krzysztof Ratajski faces Welshman Robert Owen for the right to play Gerwyn Price on Saturday.

Steve Beaton, runner-up in Maastricht last time out, looks to continue his resurgent run of form by overcoming rapid-firing Scotsman Jamie Bain.

Former World Youth Champion Keegan Brown faces a tricky opening test against James Richardson, while World Matchplay quarter-finalist Darren Webster comes up against his travel partner - emerging star Ryan Meikle.

An all-Dutch clash sees European qualifiers Jermaine Wattimena and Michael Plooy lock horns, as former Lakeside semi-finalist Jan Dekker meets left-hander Mickey Mansell - who hit a nine-darter in qualifying for this competition.

Welsh youngster Jamie Lewis takes on Stoke thrower Andy Boulton, while Sweden's Daniel Larsson looks to disptach home hopeful Michael Hurtz.

The afternoon session kicks off with a tie between Paul Rowley and Belgium's Tony Martinez, while Jamie Caven marks his European Tour return with a clash against German number one - Max Hopp.

Veteran Irishman Mick McGowan looks to silence a partisan German crowd by knocking out talented youngster Martin Schindler, meanwhile former World Youth finalist Nathan Aspinall bids to see off Host Nation qualifier Bernd Roith.

The action gets underway from 12pm BST, with all matches to be contested over the best of 11 legs at the Maimarkthalle in Mannheim, Germany.
