Kyle Anderson has been forced to withdraw from the upcoming Players Championship Finals and is doubtful for the World Championship after failing to obtain the required Visa clearance.

The Australian had been faced with a race against time in his efforts to get his Visa renewed for a return to the UK prior to this weekend's ITV4-televised event in Minehead and has now pulled out of the running.

His absence means that Andy Hamilton, the next highest non-qualified player from the Players Championship Order of Merit, is granted a place as the 64th seed and will take on Michael van Gerwen in Round One.

World number 29 Anderson now faces a nervous wait for the relevant paperwork to be completed prior to the deadline for the World Championship, the season's show-piece which gets underway on December 15 at London's Alexandra Palace.

A statement posted by his management company read:

"Unfortunately Kyle has had to withdraw from next weeks Players Championship in Minehead due to continued problems obtaining his visa.

"We have applied for a Tier 2 Sports Visa but at the moment darts is not recognised as a sport and this is the only obstacle stopping the process although it is now at a very enhanced stage.

"Kyle would like to place on record his thanks to the PDC, BDO, DRA, DPA and the Home Office for their continued support and also every person who has sent him good luck messages, he is truly overwhelmed.

"During this break Kyle is spending quality time back in Rockhampton, Australia with his lovely wife and son, Tara and Charles."

Anderson has enjoyed his most successful season in the PDC, reaching the Quarter-Finals of four televised tournaments as well as the latter stages of numerous tour events.
