Gary Anderson needs to win just three legs against to guarantee his place at The O2 but will be out to complete the job in style with victory over Michael van Gerwen in Aberdeen on Thursday.

Anderson's only rival for the final top four spot is Daryl Gurney - who must win at least 7-2 against Peter Wright and hope league leader Van Gerwen records a big win over the Scot.

Having embarked on a four-match winning run, Anderson has since suffered back-to-back Premier League defeats and will be determined to resume normal service and head to The O2 on a high.

The 2011 and 2015 Premier League champion will be backed by a partisan Scottish crowd at the BHGE Arena as he aims to record a first win over his Dutch rival for 12 months and avenge his 7-3 defeat in the thrilling reverse fixture back in February which produced eleven 180s.

Van Gerwen's emphatic 7-2 victory over Cross with a 111 average last week confirmed him as league winner for the sixth season running and means he will scoop the £25,000 bonus.

The world number one, however, will see the job as only half done as he bids to go on and lift this title for a fourth time and take his tally for the season to eleven.

Van Gerwen romped to victory at the weekend's European Grand Prix, recording three consecutive averages in excess of 109 on the final day and will look to punish any signs of weakness from the home favourite in Aberdeen.

The duo hold the top two tournament averages, with MVG leading the way on 103.82 to the Scot's 99.17 and are the only two players to have landed a 170 checkout in this year's Premier League so far.

In total, Van Gerwen has won 32 of their 49 previous meetings, including each of their last four and has not suffered defeat to Anderson in the Premier League since the 2015 final.

Their latest encounter gets underway from around 9.30pm BST and will be contested over the best of 12 legs at the BHGE Arena in Aberdeen.

Player's View

Van Gerwen: "I've got an important few weeks coming up, I feel fantastic and I want to keep this winning feeling going.

"I never want to lose, I fight for every leg and I don’t like to take anything for granted.

"Even though I am safe in top spot, I want to show everyone how good I can be.

"I'm Michael – I'm a winner, I do my thing and I don't care what anyone else does."

Anderson: "Obviously Michael will be a tough opponent, I've just got to make sure I do enough to get to The O2 without any dramas.

"It's all about producing at the right times now, I want to win in Scotland and I love coming home. It's always very special and I've got a decent record in Aberdeen.

"I really don't care where I finish in the top four and who I face at The O2. All I'm fussed about is playing my best game when I get there."
