The field of professional players for the 2018 UK Open has been confirmed following the conclusion of the six qualifying events in Wigan.

The top 96 players from the UK Open Order of Merit will feature in the UK Open finals at Butlins Minehead from March 2-4 as they batle it out for £350,000 in prize money.

The tournament, affectionately known as the 'FA Cup of Darts' sees play held across eight stages simultaneously in the early rounds, while the open draw can see top names pitted against each other at any stage.

After missing last year's event due to injury, two-time champion Michael van Gerwen returns to the UK Open as the number one seed, having won the first two qualifying events.

Reigning champion Peter Wright, a finalist in each of the last three UK Opens, is seeded number seven, behind the likes of World Champion Rob Cross, Michael Smith, Gary Anderson and Qualifier Five and Six winners Corey Cadby and Krzysztof Ratajski.

Dave Prins, Jamie Hughes, Matthew Edgar, David Pallett and Martin Schindler are among the players seeded in the top 32 for the first time and will enter at the Third Round stage.

Debutant Danny Noppert, Raymond van Barneveld, Dave Chisnall and Gerwyn Price are among the players ranked 33-64 and will enter at the Second Round stage.

Players ranked 65-96, including Terry Jenkins, Richie Burnett, Paul Nicholson, Dimitri van den Bergh and John Part, will form the First Round draw on Friday March 2 alongside the 32 Rileys amateur qualifiers.

Sunday's Qualifier Six provided late drama as 12 players were tied after the countback rule had been applied, meaning a play-off was required to determine the final two places.

Adam Hunt and George Killington were the two players to qualify in 95th and 96th place, with Jeff Smith, Jim Walker, Kevin Garcia, Richie Corner and Rees Hall missing out in the Play-Off.

The Rileys Amateur Qualifiers conclude this weekend, with notable confirmed qualifiers including giant-killer Paul Hogan, former world finalist Andy Hamilton and UK Open ever-present Alex Roy.

Notable absentees from this year's UK Open include Mensur Suljovic, who opted out of all six qualifiers, Kevin Painter, Jamie Caven, Devon Petersen, Wes Newton, Christian Kist, Brendan Dolan, Ronny Huybrechts, Max Hopp and Diogo Portela - who narrowly missed out on countback for the second successive year.
