World Grand Prix Darts 2017 Qualifying tables: The race to Dublin with one event to go

The race to qualify for October's World Grand Prix culminates in Mannheim this weekend as a number of players aim to safeguard their spot in the double-in, double-out major.

Following the German Darts Grand Prix on September 10, the top 16 players from the Main Order of Merit will be joined by the next 16 highest ranked players from the ProTour Order of Merit in the £400,000 show-piece.

The 32 players will battle it out from October 1-7 at Dublin's Citywest Hotel in the prestigious event in which matches are contested over the unique double-start format.

As it stands, three players are poised to make their debuts in Dublin - Rob Cross, Christian Kist and Richard North - who occupies the final ProTour Order of Merit spot heading in to the weekend's European Tour event.

Ronny Huybrechts and Jonny Clayton sit just £1,000 behind North, but with Clayton having failed to qualify for the German Grand Prix, Huybrechts has the opportunity to leapfrog the pair if he can win through the European qualifying event on Thursday.

Robert Thornton, the 2015 World Grand Prix champion, faces an anxious weekend in Germany as he bids to protect his top 16 spot amid pressure from Simon Whitlock and Alan Norris.

In a change to the criteria this year, the top two players from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland now no longer receive an automatic qualification spot. Only the top eight players from the main Order of Merit will be seeded in the draw bracket.
